Professional Background

Benedict Occhiogrosso is Co-Founder and President of DVI Communications, a New York-based technology consulting and expert witness firm founded in 1979. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering (1975) from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now the NYU Tandon School of Engineering). Earlier in his career he worked in the military aerospace industry, developing strategic and tactical command-and-control systems for defense and intelligence agencies, before moving into commercial telecommunications consulting.

At DVI, Mr. Occhiogrosso has overseen technology consulting engagements across financial services, healthcare, legal, government, media, and education sectors for more than four decades, spanning network design and engineering, strategic technology planning, and public safety and smart-city systems.

Expert Witness Experience

Mr. Occhiogrosso has served as a testifying and consulting expert witness since the early 1990s, in matters involving patent infringement, trade secrets, product malfunction, and breach of contract. His engagements have spanned satellite communications, voice and data networking, and multimedia systems — including a multi-year engagement (1993–1999) as both consulting expert and designated trial expert in a complex satellite communications matter for a major telecommunications company.
